I ended up choosing Benjamin Eye Institute, even at a little higher cost because I felt like they actually cared about me as a patient, and not just for the money they would receive for my procedure. Mayka helped me with all my issues regarding payment and put my mind at ease regarding my first elective surgery.

The day of surgery went smoothly. I was seen about an hour after the scheduled surgery time but I think the doctor was held up taking care of an especially complicated case before mine. In any case, that shows how much they really care! They won’t push people or do a job half-way just because of a time slot. Dr. Benjamin actually cares about his patients on a personal level.

Immediately after my surgery, I was a little woozy from the Xanax but I could tell that my vision was already better than it had ever been. The very next morning I was able to drive MYSELF to the follow up appointment and my vision has improved every single day since then. It has been almost 2 weeks and just the feeling of waking up and seeing everything cannot compare to anything else. It is like going from a regular TV to seeing everything in HD. AMAZING I would totally recommend Dr. Benjamin and his staff to anyone thinking about getting LASIK. My experience was outstanding from beginning to end and I would do it over again 100000 times.

The procedure was very easy and by the next day I was seeing 20/20 in both eyes (in fact I am seeing 20/15 in my right eye and probably would be in my left as well but chose monovision). I still have a bit of a halo effect, but it has only been 10 days and I am told that it will go away almost completely. I have no doubt that I had the best care available. If you are interested in Lasik but are a bit nervous about having it done, I recommend meeting Dr. Benjamin!

There were three reasons why I chose the Benjamin Eye Institute. First, I have friends who’ve had Lasik and Dr. Benjamin came recommended multiple times, even by people who chose other places to have Lasik done.

Second, when I went in, the staff was extremely professional and friendly. The lab tech was very nice and calming as she performed the preliminary tests for the doctor. While I was panicking inside, she reminded me that first I needed to be a candidate and second, the doctor was among the best. When I met with the Lasik coordinator, Mayka, many of my fears washed away. She explained the procedure to me without any sales pressure and was so patient, I knew right away I’d be a fool to go anywhere else. She was honest with me every step of the way and it was like she read my mind as we discussed my fears. For my pre-visits and surgery, all of the assistants were amazingly friendly and professional. I honestly couldn’t ask for more from a Lasik experience.

Third, Dr. Benjamin himself was nice and professional. He had a sense of humor to boot. He is very thorough and has a high success rate with these procedures because he doesn’t gamble with the potential dangers. When he found scarring on my retina, he immediately helped me locate a professional to make sure it wouldn’t impede the Lasik. Fortunately, it was nothing that could prevent me from having the surgery and luckily my health is fine, too. However, he gets kudos for checking and informing me of something that wasn’t caught throughout my entire adult life and for being that cautious and honest.

If you are considering Lasik, Dr. Benjamin should be at the top of your list. Your eyes are very important and the last thing you want is to risk your vision by going to some place that sees you as a number and spits you out when you’re done. The procedure for me was stressful and in hindsight, which is now 20/15, going with Dr. Benjamin and his staff was the best decision I could have made!
